Let’s get started discussing Sustainable & Healthy Design in our homes!

My blog will talk about what sustainable and healthy design is, how it impacts you, how it benefits our planet and what small steps we can take to reduce our impact on this beautiful third rock from the sun!

We live in a messy, messy world, where, since the industrial revolution, we have made a ginormous impact on the condition of our earth, and ourselves. And now, with human-induced climate change, we face a ticking clock to reverse our choices and consumption thinking, methods and quantities, to reduce our collective environmental footprint. It can be genuinely overwhelming.

The choices we, or our design and construction team, make when we are undertaking a home makeover or renovation matter. Nothing is going to be flawless, however, we can design our projects in a more sustainable and healthy way by re-thinking what we need; considering waste; thinking about the purpose of the design; giving consideration to how we want to live in our space; and to use materials and products that have designed waste and harmful chemicals out of their product and material lifecycle.

We all have a lot on our plates with work, family, life commitments and finances, so to need to consider our impact on the earth while we are renovating is almost too much to ask, or expect. Cue LPB Designs & Interiors!

Last week I attended a training workshop regarding exactly this ⬆️. I won’t drag out all of the nitty gritty details of what I learnt as that is for me to process and use, almost imperceptibly, in your design and decorating projects. It’s one less thing for you to worry about. With these skills and way of thinking, I can actively reduce your project’s environmental footprint with careful, researched and collaborative product and material selections within your budget while working with the right team of tradespeople and community services.

Now that is a good, bite-sized way to contribute positively to our Earth’s needs right there!
